I have more research ideas than I have resources to explore, many of which could make exciting, enriching and challenging PhD topics.
Personal profile:

I’m motivated by society’s grand challenges, climate change in particular. My group’s research contributes to decarbonisation of the energy sector by building the technology required to transition to renewable energy. I collaborate widely with academics in engineering, computing, and social sciences, we need to work together to solve many of these problems. Many are interdisciplinary, at the interface of statistics and engineering, or human interaction with data and technology. I have a long list of potential projects, but equally keen to explore new areas where I can make a positive contribution.

I have supervised both theoretical and applied PhD projects, some partnered with industry. I hope my students would describe my supervision style as supportive and motivating. My students have gone on to postdoc roles and into industry. I’m pleased that most have continued to work in similar areas to their PhDs and that their expertise is having an impact in the world.
